Regenerative Textiles Scotland (RTS) is an independent movement uniting industry and academia in the quest for a fairer, more sustainable, interconnected industry.

Celebrated for waxed cloth, tartan, cashmere, tweed and lace, Scotland’s textile industry (including producers, manufacturers and suppliers), is expected to have a turnover of *£1.1 billion by 2025, making the sector a crucial asset to the country’s economy.  RTS was formed to review and challenge existing processes as well as spotlight those championing innovation, through a programme of annual events and brand collaborations.

Our current focus is on wool – from fleece to fibre. In conjunction with experts from all aspects of the “growing” process, we’re revisiting Scotland’s demand and supply chains, to assess inequalities and act as a catalyst for positive change.

Our 2023 Exhibition followed the textile journeys of key garments from established contemporary producers. We showcased national initiatives supporting regenerative textile cultures and new work from Scottish university fashion and textile students.

Our 2023 Symposium brought enquiring minds together to share new thinking, highlighting key journeys on the road to a regenerative textile economy in Scotland. We heard diverse voices from farming to fashion and from the broader cultural bases in heritage and education.

We now prepare for our 2024 event.
